Welcome to the Business Entity Landing Page. IPA will post information about recent news and upcoming events in this space.
Anti-Money Laundering project. PNG is undertaking an intense assessment of its compliance with international anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing requirements. IPA is a key agency in this work as the administrator overseeing the majority of PNG’s registered business entities. IPA’s work includes:
- Implementing a new policy that allows law enforcement agencies to seek beneficial ownership information about companies;
- Proposing new amendments to the Companies Act to enhance beneficial ownership reporting; and
- Undertaking what is called a “Legal Persons Assessment” which will inform Government on the potential money-laundering risks from the legal entities recognized under PNG law.
For more information on these activities, click on the link above called “AML and CFT Compliance.” NOTE: the work on the Companies Act amendment has commenced, and IPA is seeking public feedback on the proposed language. Please review the Consultation Memo under the AML Link and submit your comments to
ggLegislativeReview@ipa.gov.pg. Due to the critical importance of the work, comments are due by June 30, 2025 so that amendments may be progressed in 2025.

Business Entity Register Information.
The IPA-administered register is fully online and available for both local and overseas businesses. Any person may search the register, and any person may establish a client account with the register so as to register their business and submit all necessary filing. See below for more information.
New entities.The new system is fully functional for the creation of new business entities. You can submit an application to form a company, register a business name or file a notice of intent to form an association online today. You may also still submit paper filings to create these new entities.
Existing entities and data migration.When IPA implemented a new online system in 2022-2023, all data from the old legacy system was transferred to the new system. If you search for any entity, you should see the full entity history in the database.
For further details about the data migration and its impact on your company or business name, click here. Client account information was also migated to the new system.
Online filing. The new system allows for every single filing to be submitted online. For this reason, paper filings will no longer be accepted except for the initial application to incorporate a company, register a business name, or file a notice of intent for association.
Online payments. Online filing fees are paid from your client account. See information below about how to establish a free client account. You may fund the account in various ways, including using a new feature, BSP Online. You may also use credit card or via cash or cheque at BSP.
Re-registration. All companies were required to re-register when the new system was implemented. If a company failed to re-register, it was struck off from the active register. If this happened to your company and the company is still active, you must restore the company to the active register. Click on the How To Restore link for more information.
Expired Business Names. Business Names that fail to file their annual renewals are removed from the active register and their status is changed to Lapsed. The business owners can apply to revoke the Lapsed status by filing a J53 and paying a penalty fee of K250 and when successful they can proceed to apply to renew their business name. The normal renewal fee of K150 will then be applicable.
