The Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) is a statutory organization, established by an Act of Parliament in 1992, to promote and facilitate investment in Papua New Guinea and is managed by a Board of Directors on which the business community is well represented. The IPA does this through various programs including the establishment and maintenance of a company/business registry, certification of foreign enterprise and promotion of investment opportunities in PNG. The IPA is the organisation that houses the Companies Office of PNG, the Securities Commission of PNG and the Intellectual Property Office of PNG, hence the roles and functions of the IPA is diversed. These diverse roles and functions are implemented through the following divisions: * Business Investment and Export Promotion - Investor facilitation and servicing * Business Information and Facilitation - Foreign Certification * Business Registration and Regulation - Companies Office * Intellectual Property Office of PNG * Securities Commission of PNG * Corporate Services The IPA is also the point of identification of markets for PNG exports and dissemination of investor- related information about PNG.
